The Venerable Patrick Peyton penned that popular phrase: “The Family That Prays Together, Stays Together“. Also “A World at Prayer is a World at Peace”
I recently met Fr. Willy Raymond, CSC, the President of Holy Cross Family Ministries. We had a board meeting for Family Rosary Crusade Philippines, which I have been a member of since 2018.
And we met again last week to discuss even more things we can do together as FRC. Suffice to say, it is a new aspect to my role in being part of the Board of the Family Rosary Crusade (not Brigade as Des would say).
Des told the kids about it, and for some reason, they have taken to the rosary very quickly. We used to pray the rosary on occasion, but lately, they have been the ones asking us to pray.
When the past few evenings were not busy (with meetings, households or assemblies), and we got to go home early, the younger kids would be the ones to suggest we pray the rosary.
They would find their rosaries, take out the prayer booklets, and even jump on the chance to lead the prayers. Our 8, 6 and 4 year olds. The 6 year old has just started to read well enough and fast enough to keep up. The 4 year old wants us to guide her in the prayers (or else she gets upset). And the 8 year old has even volunteered to be part of a rosary activity in school. Our older kids – 12 and 10 – would hear the prayers and come from their room and join in as well.
Honestly, I don’t know how we could be so blessed with this happening in our home. It wasn’t forced. And definitely wasn’t expected. Thank you Fr. Peyton for bringing this encouragement and excitement into our home.
Truly living our the Family Rosary Crusade in our family.
