The annual CBCP Episcopal Commission on Family and Life National Assembly was conducted this year in Pagadian, Zamboanga del Sur. The last one I attended was in Cebu.
I was able to join a workshop on media, wherein we brought up action plans to bring the work of all the Dioceses and national organizations to everyone. There is so many things happening all over the country – people just don’t see it. That’s why we get comments such as “ano ba ang ginagawa ng simbahan?” All they need to do is look around instead of relying on Facebook to tell them what to think or say.
Archbishop-elect Gilbert Garcera, who is the Chairman of CBCP ECFL, as well as the incoming Archbishop of Lipa, is such a wonderful and refreshing leader. He listens to all reports, is so hands on, has a vision for the Commission. It really is good to see servant-leaders of the Church such as him. And you can hang out and just talk about things during the breaks. Approachable and professional! Here we are with Ansel Beluso and Fr. Francis Gustilo, SDB.
We were able to have lunch with the Yambas of Pagadian. Tito Ed Yamba, the Country Servant of CFC FFL USA, has family here. So they were kind enough to take us out to dinner, and even send crabs for us to take home to Manila.
And here is FLiQ Media after a long day of workshops and sessions. Community events are different from Church events. There is a different kind of pressure involved. Positive of course.
And, as part of the media group, we went to work right away. Here we are meeting with EWTN, Live Life and Filipinos for Life to make all the plans happen. Let us not leave paper plans on paper. Go out and do them!
