Des and I were able to attend the wedding of the year (decade? Asia? the World?) last night. Yup, Dingdong and Marian’s wedding. I work for the Foundation Dingdong founded – YesPinoy, which was also the beneficiary of the wedding. Which is a big blessing for the work we want to do. It was a wonderful day, very beautiful with so much love put into the details. We were so happy to be a part of it.
I will be linking pictures I posted on my and YesPinoy’s Instagram accounts, and since I am not a photographer, they may be grainy and dark – doesn’t do justice to the wedding at all.
The wedding ceremony was in Immaculate Conception Cathedral along Lantana St. in Cubao. Des got her hair and make-up done with Peps Silvestre in nearby Timog, and we even saw Direk Joyce Bernal there too. That was about 1pm already so we weren’t that late. We got to the Cathedral, parked (not too bad, very good system with the local Barangay officials) and got into the Cathedral by 2:28pm as stated in the invitation.
There were a lot of celebrities and politicians, so it was fun crowd-watching. They do seem smaller in person. You’d think with all the advances in technology they’d make a camera that won’t add 10 pounds to you on television? It was also interesting seeing which celebrities didn’t know when to stand or kneel during the Mass. 😉 When Marian entered the Cathedral, it was beautiful. Rays of light entered along with her through the door. I doubt that could have been man-made. But it made a wonderful effect. Her gown was gorgeous. And, along with the Spanish theme, she had a tiara on as well. Very nice touch.
Congratulations 🙂 #TheBeginning #DongYanWedding A photo posted by YesPinoy Foundation (@yespinoy) on Dec 12, 2014 at 7:32am PST
I have seen some people say negative things about it being called a “Royal” wedding, and about her “crown”. I do know that they did not want us to use the tag “Royal Wedding” so we didn’t. It was something cooked up by GMA. But, on the other hand, why not use it? Every girl has the right to dictate whatever she wants on her special day. If she wanted to be a Queen, then let her be! Just like my daughters, if they want to be princesses, let them be! I won’t tell them they are not royal, or have no right to do so. Quite ridiculous these people and their comments. She was so beautiful, the gown was amazing, and she was the Queen on that day in my book.
It was a very solemn ceremony, with Bishop Bacani giving a wonderful and very true homily about married life and giving 100% everyday. The choir from three different grade schools was angelic. It would give the Vienna Boys Choir a run for their money. It went off without a hitch. The Cathedral was decorated beautifully, and they even brought in heavy duty air conditioners for the venue.
Our heartfelt congratulations to you, Dong and Yan! May you reach our number of children… fast! 🙂
Some pictures from the wedding, and the next blog will be about the reception.
