Happy New Year!
Our Senatoriables have been busy pre-campaigning for the past few months. Some have TV commercials and endorsements all over the place. Others have Facebook ads. And a lot are surprisingly (and happy to note) good at Social Media. Here are their ranking coming into the new year. Just a few months before election day!
This is all after the RH Bill voting. The ongoing Cebu and Pangasinan brouhaha. The failure of the FOI Bill. Etc etc. Any effects?
Interesting to note the jump in Twitter followers of Sonny Angara, and a drop in his FB likers. Gordon changed his Twitter handle from Chairman to Senator. Bro Eddie joined the race. And Trillanes has joined Twitter! Here are December’s rankings.
The difference between #s 5 and 6; and #s 11 and 12 are still huge. But don’t rest. It can change in an instant.
I read an article asking if FB likes and Twitter followers are good indicators of popularity. Or if we should take a look at “talking about”. For me, it is simple. If you like someone enough to like their page and / or follow them on Twitter, then most probably you will vote for them. Unless you are just there to troll them, which is the exception and not the norm, then you take that extra effort to know what they are doing, and read what they are saying.
That will give you more information into the elections. And will make you shade the circle beside their name. Social Media is a powerful tool. And even if the surveys aren’t showing the list below, I think things will even out coming into May. And the popularity we see will be the make up of half the Senate come election time.
Here you are: happy new year! Work harder!
